The World of Anais
The story of the continent, as told by the original site.
Chapter I
The Distant Past
In the distant past the universe was born. Seeds of life scattered from its centre; their insides became land and sea, and their skins became the air.
Chapter II
The Continent of Anais
A giant descended to a world of vast lands and named it Anais, meaning “meeting and order”. He created the four great spirits — Helen of Fire, Nilo of Water, Yanes of Wind and Dera of Earth — whose power gave birth to the Tree of Life, Akiron, “the beginning of all things”. Then the giant left the world.
Chapter III
The Ancient Elves
The Ancient Elves built the forest city of Elshuber and were the first to master magic. From an ancient fruit of Akiron came Shuland Acrein, a prodigy of immense magical power whose ambition grew with his talent. The archmages stopped teaching him, but the great sage Duran Hapra kept training him in secret.
Chapter IV
Birth of the Three Races
The archmages sealed Hapra's power inside the Tree of Life. In anger, Acrein shattered the Ipinidas Rune, source of the elves' power, and fled with a fragment. The blast erased Elshuber and felled the Tree. The survivors scattered: those of the deep forests became the Elves, the hardy folk around the Spring of Ira became the Orcs, and Acrein's followers became the Humans. Long wars for Anais followed.
Chapter V
The Divine Weapon
With the rune fragment Acrein forged a divine weapon. The allied races were defeated, dimensional rifts opened across the land, and Acrein — now the Dark Lord — summoned an army from other dimensions: the Sahar.
Chapter VI
Fall of the Dark Lord
Twenty-two archmages summoned the armies of the four spirits and sealed him away with the rifts. His last curse barred them and their descendants from magic forever. They became wanderers who learned to wield the mysterious power of tarot cards, searching for a way to lift the curse.
Chapter VII
The Return of Dawn
The leaderless Sahar overran the alliance's cities. Survivors built the small fortress of Terminus on the slopes of the Spine Mountains, in the Lupren Forest, and from there expeditions of Humans, Orcs and Elves set out to recover the scattered fragments of the Ipinidas Rune — the only power that can match the Sahar. You are one of them.
